Find a plant

Biological propagation isn’t so difficult if you can ensure a biological equilibrium. Star Quality aims to propagate plants in a biological way, with nature giving us a helping hand. This is the future, and we make every effort to achieve this aim.

At our nursery we have planted rows of hedges and trees to create green zones for the purpose of boosting a natural equilibrium. We have also installed insect hotels, created special places for hedgehogs to live and hung up birdhouses. Our wide range of more than 700 varieties also supports our biological breeding efforts, because this natural diversity prevents pests.
With three years’ experience in biological propagation we can say that we use minimal amounts of chemicals to protect our plants. More than 95% of our products are grown without crop protection products. Moss and fungi sometimes cause a few problems, but for the past three years we haven’t used any pesticides to control aphids, red spider mites, thrips, leaf miners or slugs and snails.

We have not used neonicotinoids, the products that are so very harmful for bees, since 2009. At our nursery, nature solves the problems of these pests itself. We do sometimes carry out some additional pruning, if our plants are not looking very attractive after being affected by pests.

Here at Star Quality we want to show you what we’re doing in an open, honest way. Our ordering list for 2017 specifies which of our plants have been treated with a crop protection product.

Natural propagation is a lot more important to us than certificates. Even so, we are going to apply for a certificate, so that you will know what requirements we meet.
